For this reason he was hired, that I should be afraid and act that way and sin, so that they might have cause for an evil report, that they might reproach me. v.13

Tobiah and Sanballat spread rumors to try to get Nehemiah to stop building the wall. Making up harsh reports that would make him go and try to clear things up. But Nehemiah didn't fall to their deceitfulness. How often do rumors hurt us even when we know they are lies? Those who are against the Lord want to see God's people suffer and steal their joy and will go out of their way to make that happen, especially when God is doing a miracle through someone. This was a miracle indeed that the wall was built in 52 days (6:15)!  How upset they were when they realized they couldn't stop God (6:16).

• When was a time you saw God's faithfulness through enemies try to stop His work? 
• Do you notice the type of Christ Nehemiah foreshadowed of the same concept happened to Jesus when He walked this earth?
