Jeremiah 5

“Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem;
See now and know;
And seek in her open places
If you can find a man,
If there is anyone who executes judgment,
Who seeks the truth,
And I will pardon her. v.1

Read chapter 5
There's not one.  NOT ONE person in all of Jerusalem that seeks truth and executes judgment.   It's kind of like when Jesus was talking to Abraham saying if there are 50 righteous in Sodom He would not destroy it, but there wasn't even ten righteous so Sodom was destroyed.  The odds are even better here with Jerusalem of the Lord seeking only one, yet that's not even found.  Jerusalem was the capitol and where the temple was, so most likely the population was pretty big, were not just talking some some little village here.  The people of Israel had completely abandoned their God, assuming He wasn't having any involvement in their lives or cared about their sin that judgement from God wasn't even feared anymore.
 In the forty years preceding Judah’s exile to Babylon, Jeremiah was a lone voice in the administrations of five kings. Judah’s religious and political leaders were all corrupt. The prophets no longer proclaimed the words of God. The political leaders of the day no longer defended the cause of justice. Jeremiah was not at all certain that if he walked Jerusalem’s streets, he’d find even one righteous, God-fearing person. (preceptsaustin.org).
If Jeremiah were to run to and fro through the streets of your town and find someone who seeks truth?  Would that someone be you?  Has sinning loosened your sensitivity to sin and cause you to become self-reliant?
