Mark 5

"And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region." vv.16-17

Crazy the response of the people after Jesus performs this miracle.   They're trying to get Jesus to leave their town because He performed a miracle.  That just doesn't make sense.  Jesus had just healed a demon possessed man, yet this isn't what seemed to upset the people.  When the demons talk to Jesus they ask to be sent into the herd of swine which He does and then the swine kill themselves.  This seems to be the key as to why the people seem upset.  Swine we have to remember was an unclean animal to the Israelites and forbidden in the law to eat or touch their caracas so not sure why one would even mess with raising them, and so something the Lord wanted to rid of.  So although the miracle of healing the demon possessed man, it hurt those that were profiting from keeping swine as it killed about 2,000 of them (v.13) and they are mad and want Jesus out.  May we never be so selfish that a miracle that helps someone else or is at a cost to us cause us to turn from the Lord or push Him out of our lives!  When have you seen someone lose that someone else may gain?
