Jeremiah 2

Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’
And to a stone, ‘You gave birth to me.’
For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face.
But in the time of their trouble
They will say, ‘Arise and save us.’ v.27

Read chapter 2
We have some evolutionist back in that day too! Just as evolutionist say today that we all came from some pond of sludge that then formed rocks and trees and eventually humans, so the Jeremiah points out the same thing by calling a tree their father and a stone their mother.  This was and is just another religion as they have no factual proof that life came from non-life- it's a blind faith to believe evolution just as much as believing in creation.    This tree and stone spoken of here in Jeremiah most likely were images that were made out of wood and marble.  They became their idol gods instead of the one true God.  Yet when trouble comes it will bring many of them to their senses, though it may be too late as they cry out to God finally.  You may not see someone today literally having a family tree of pictures of trees and rocks as their great grandparents, but if they boil down to what they believe about their creation, they'd have to admit that is what they believe.
How do you understand who your ancestors are all the way to the beginning of the world?
