Nehemiah 10

"these joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in God’s Law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes" v.29

Read chapter 10

They entered into a curse and an oath. The curse is the repercussions due to their disobedience in not complying with the Law. Just like when we (believers) sin, yes we're forgiven already but there still may be consequences in this life for them. God's law was a way to fight sin, not a burden. The verses in this chapter go into specifics of their lives of how they were to follow God - not just a blanket statement. Sometimes in our lives we need to make specific boundaries or decisions on how we choose to live. Not because we want to place a burden on ourselves but rather to keep us free from bondage to sin and things of this world.
  • What are some boundaries you need to make in your life?
