Isaiah 39

And he said, “What have they seen in your house?”
So Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”  v.4
Read chapter 39
How easy is it to want to show someone favor because they showed favor to you?  This is good, but there can also be deceptiveness in it too on one party's end.  In this chapter we see the son of the king of Babylon send gifts to king Hezekiah when he was sick so in turn being pleased by the letters and gifts Hezekiah shows Merodach-Baladan all Israel's treasuries.  Isaiah then comes and prophesies that all that was seen will all be taking way by Babylon.  It was a ploy.  Merodach-Baladan was basically a spy, knowing the ropes and all to be taken.  This chapter made me think of our own hearts, especially women, how we can so easily share all of who we are to a guy who may show a small bit interest in us, but then when the relationship doesn't work out we feel empty or that treasures of intimacy we shared was taken for granted or that we let walk out the door.  How careful we have to be  in not just showing everything all at once of our inner most treasures (and junk too) discerning the person we are revealing to.
